Burlingtons and new<id were invited by our very own Jenny McAlpine, Fizz from Coronation Street, who is a regular at the salon to support Moods Swings Network Charity Ball. The charity was set up by her Father, Tom McAlpine to support and raise funds for Mental Health, Depression, Self Help and Welfare.  Based in Manchester, it has already saved thousands of lives.

The evening went with a swing, where we mingled with the stars. Amongst auctions, dinner, champagne and the set of Coronation Street taking the stage for a spot of cabaret, the evening was a huge success and raised thousands for the charity.

Although Jen never seems to be lucky in love she always looks fantastic; here are her make-up secrets.

Jen has a great bone structure, but quite small eyes so she is always very careful not over make them up. The real secret is to use a soft eyeliner pencil such as i - line in black, and apply in dots at the root of the lash, then use a cotton bud or fine eye shadow brush to blend all the dots together for a much softer look.

Jen tends to stick to natural colour eye shadows in the lighter shades to avoid closing up her eyes.  Try i – shadow in shimmy-shimmy on the moving part of they eye lid.

Jennifer has that beautiful LA tan, but she always uses a pink blush to brighten up her skin tone. Try i - blush in Ipanema on the apples of the cheek. Her final trick is to keep her look balanced by not drawing attention to any particular feature (eyes or lips).  To do the same yourself use a sheer lip shade like i - pout in parfait pink with a gloss like i - gloss in tickled pink over the top!

Yes, she's a very voluptuous lady and is not a traditional beauty, but she wears it with individual style and confidence, and that's what new<id is all about - being your truly gorgeous self!

Being in and out of rehab and even jail, probably means Lindsay's hair and make-up have taken a bit of a back seat. But we can't help feeling sad that the once cute and innocent red-head that appeared in 'The Parent Trap' has grown up to become what many would describe as 'Trailer Trash'. With tatty hair extensions, streaky fake tan and smudged eye liner, Lindsay is in need of a new<id experience, big time! We caught up with International Artistic Director, Ashley Gaunt, to find out what's hot for our locks this Autumn, and how to achieve that look.

Ashley told us that this September, gold and copper tones are the flavour of the month, moving away from blondes and highlights. It's all about rich block colours. These shades really compliment paler complexions and also those with a golden tan, particularly those with blue and green eyes.

Style-wise, it's all about natural soft curls. Use Redken fresh curls spin control and Redken Curl Booster to give the hair a nice soft texture, creating volume whilst taking away the dryness and the frizzy ends.
